Two to tango: Insights from a partnership

In the May issue of Colloquy, the online newsletter from the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), two representatives from Andover Newton Theological School and Yale Divinity School offer some reflections on Andover Newton’s transition from a freestanding theological school to an embedded seminary.

Ned Allyn Parker and James Hackney discuss the challenges that came from this transition and the core values that helped the two schools work together to avoid and/or address them. (At the time of writing, Parker was alumni/ae and development officer at Andover Newton, and Hackney was director of strategic initiatives at Yale Divinity.) Grieving over the move from their historic campus was a challenge for Andover Newton, and they both felt the differences in culture between the two institutions. Their shared values include gratitude and clear communication, openness and transparency.

You can read Parker and Hackney's complete thoughts in their Colloquy article, “It takes two to tango — development and communications in major transitions.”
