The In Trust Center for Theological Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Lyons, Ph.D., as Program Director.

In the role, Lyons will provide strategic and operational leadership for the In Trust Center’s coordination work related to the Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative, funded by Lilly Endowment, Inc. He will also support the Center’s Resource Consulting and broader organizational projects.

“We are excited to have Thomas join the In Trust Center team,” said Amy Kardash, president of the In Trust Center. “His experience and leadership with a Pathways for Tomorrow project, as well as his deep commitment to theological education, will enhance our work and service to the field.”

Lyons holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (New Testament) and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. He previously served at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he directed a Pathways for Tomorrow project that included the launch of Seminary Now’s for-credit program. He also helped guide the school’s library in its transition to predominantly digital resources. Lyons has taught at several institutions and served as an advisor for theses and dissertations.

Lyons’ appointment to the In Trust Center, which began Aug. 31, 2026, follows an extensive search. In the new position, he will support the Center’s programmatic and coordination efforts for the Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative, including serving as a liaison between the Center and the Association of Theological Schools on the initiative. He and his family live in Lexington, Kentucky.
