The Newsletter for Chairs of Theological School Boards
Vol. 1 No. 1

In more than 30 years of working with boards and senior leaders in theological education, we at the In Trust Center for Theological Schools have come to know the hard work that board chairs take on. It’s an important and often difficult job.

So, I’m reaching out directly to introduce you to our newsletter specifically for board chairs. Every month you’ll receive ideas, resources, and a little encouragement to help you in the work.

In our work, we have plenty of ways to help – whether webinars, podcasts, articles, conversation partners, or our award-winning magazine. Through Resource Consulting, we can answer specific questions.

As an example, let me offer you three things you can use immediately:

  • Remark(able): Here’s a piece we call Remark(able), which is a question from a book or training to help boards start a conversation about a governance issue. You can share the link with your board colleagues as a way to have a board education conversation – whether via email or in your next board meeting.
  • Executive sessions: Here’s a piece for boards to consider about executive sessions. In it, I suggest that boards meet in executive sessions every meeting, and I tell you why.
  • Shared governance: Dr. Rebekah Basinger has spent her life in higher education and training boards. In a recent webinar, she takes on shared governance and talks about how to do it better.

The In Trust Center offers many other services for members like you. (You can find out more here.) I’m looking forward to connecting more in the months ahead. My team and I are praying for you and your success. And, don’t hesitate to let me or the team here know how we can help.

With gratitude for all you do in theological education,
Amy Kardash
President
