In this episode of the Good Governance podcast, Scott Thumma, Ph.D., discusses what the latest research says about congregational life after the pandemic. Drawing on the Hartford Institute for Religion Research’s EPIC (Exploring the Pandemic Impact on Congregations) study, Thumma shares why many churches are experiencing renewed stability, stronger attendance and giving, and a growing sense of optimism. He also explores what these trends mean for theological education, and how seminaries can prepare leaders for a changing ministry landscape. Recently retired from Hartford International University for Religion and Peace, Thumma offers a hopeful vision for the future of American congregations.

The Hartford Institute for Religion Research has explored religion for more than 40 years and its work continues. It can be found here.
