High-performing boards, however, leverage self-assessment to enhance their effectiveness, while ineffective boards may resist or ignore the findings. Wise stewards understand the role of self-assessment in shaping board practices, strengthening collaboration with the president, administration, and faculty, and addressing institutional challenges. By embracing honest self-assessment, boards can add value and identify areas for growth in their responsibilities.
