The presidents and heads of member schools of the In Trust Center for Theological Schools recently cast ballots to elect three new members and re-elect two members of the Center’s board of directors. Forty-two percent of eligible institutions cast ballots.

?Newly elected

Kah-Jin Jeffrey Kuan
President, Claremont School of Theology

Kuan has served as president of Claremont School of Theology since 2013. Previously he was dean of Drew Theological School and served on the faculty of the Pacific School of Religion and the Graduate Theological Union. He is a graduate of Trinity Theological College in Singapore, Southern Methodist University, and Emory University. He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church.

 

Alton B. Pollard III
Professor of Religion and Culture, Howard University School of Divinity 
Scholar in Residence (2017-18), Eden Theological Seminary

A graduate of Fisk University, Harvard Divinity School, and Duke University, Pollard stepped down in 2017 as dean of the Howard University School of Divinity, where he remains on the faculty. He previously served in academic positions at St. Olaf College, Wake Forest University, and Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He is an ordained Baptist minister. 
 

Luis R. Rivera
Academic Dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary

Rivera has worked in theological education since 1986, first on the faculty of the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico and then at McCormick Theological Seminary and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Prior to his teaching career, Rivera served as a Baptist lay minister in Puerto Rico. He has been a member of the United Methodist Church since 2004 and is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico, and Harvard Divinity School.

 

Re-elected

Duane Kelderman
Interim Pastor and Ministry Consultant, Christian Reformed Church

A graduate  of  Calvin  College, Calvin Theological Seminary, and Denver Seminary, Kelderman was a Christian Reformed  pastor  for 24 years, a  professor of preaching for 12 years, and vice president for  administration at Calvin Seminary for 10  years before  retiring in 2011. He was first elected to the In Trust Center board in 2013.

 

 

Jeremiah McCarthy 
Moderator of the Curia, Roman  Catholic  Diocese of Tucson, Arizona

Msgr. McCarthy is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Tucson, Arizona. In addition to ongoing service as an associate pastor and administrator in that diocese, he served for 18 years as professor of moral theology, academic dean, and finally rector-president of St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California. From 2002 to 2009, he was director of accreditation and institutional evaluation and secretary to the Board of Commissioners of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). A graduate of the Graduate Theological Union, he was first elected to the In Trust Center board in 2009.
