Worshippers in Black congregations see a role for the church in fighting racial injustice according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center.

The survey, released this month, showed a great belief that Black churches have contributed to helping create more equality in society, with more than 75 percent of Black adults saying so. The survey also found that 43 percent of Black Americans believe it is essential for churches and houses of worship to offer “a sense of racial affirmation or pride.”

The role of the Black Church is also clear as 60 percent of Black adults reported attending services at a Black Church.

The survey can be found here.
