Voting member schools of the In Trust Center have elected four new members and re-elected two current members to serve on its board of directors. All new terms begin January 1, 2021.

Newly elected to three-year terms

René Espinosa, Vice President of Administration and Finance, Oblate School of Theology

A certified public accountant, Espinosa was a member of the task force responsible for the redevelopment of the Standards of Accreditation of the Association of Theological Schools.

Karen L. Sawyer, Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy, Arcadia University

Sawyer has been a member of the board of trustees of Missio Seminary (formerly Biblical Theological Seminary) since 1994 and served two three-year terms as chair.

Doris García Rivera, Interim Director, Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America (BPFNA)

A former American Baptist missionary, García Rivera was the first female president of the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico from 2014 until 2019.

Richard R. Topping, Principal, Vancouver School of Theology

A scholar of Reformed and systematic theology, Topping serves on the senate of the University of British Columbia and is a strategic adviser at Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries, a nonprofit supporting mental health and well-being.

Re-elected to three-year terms

Kathryn Glover, former Vice President for Administration and Institutional Effectiveness and Secretary of the Corporation, Virginia Theological Seminary

A certified senior human resources professional, Glover is a consultant in governance, leadership, and organizational development, and she serves on the Episcopal Church’s national Task Force to Develop Churchwide Family Leave Policies.

Charisse L. Gillett, President, Lexington Theological Seminary

A former moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Gillett became the 17th president of Lexington Theological Seminary in 2011 — the first woman and first African American to hold that role in the seminary’s 154-year history.
