THE MAGAZINE
A Pathway to cultivate new ministers

In Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount is finding new ways to bring people into ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. In a Pathways for Tomorrow grant, the school is training lay ministers from a variety of backgrounds to serve. See their approach here. Also in the magazine:
  • What's unprecedented now?  In changing times, it's difficult to assess what's really unprecedented. What are you finding to be unprecedented for you and your school? In this piece, we want to know what you think
  • An attitude to help lead: In the difficulty of leadership, one of the things that shouldn't be missed in leadership is the attitude of the leader. Dr. Todd Still, the dean of Baylor University's George W. Truett Theological Seminary, considers the New Testament's words to help help leaders
  • A prayer for serenity: The history of the so-called Serenity Prayer traces to the noted theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. His daughter wrote that it was a product of his times, and that prayer still resonates today. See why here.
THE PODCAST

Making 'generosity champions' for your school

Dr. Carla Maxwell Ray, who has helped raise more than $1 billion, says schools should strive to make "generosity champions." In Episode 45 of the podcast, she explains the spiritual side of fundraising and talks about the joyous nature of giving and how that can help schools approach fundraising. Also, be sure to listen to Episode 44 about why lifelong learning matters. Dr. Helen Blier explains what's important for leaders to know about lifelong learning and how it can serve as a conduit to the community and bring more students into theological education. Listen to these episodes and many more here.
