The first cohort of theological schools in the In Trust Center’s Wise Stewards Initiative has begun its work. Coaches are meeting with the boards of the 10 participating schools during the institutions’ fall 2018 board meetings. While digging into the basics of board work, participants are also focusing on the outcomes of a self-assessment that each board completed within the last two months.

In spring 2019, four leaders from each of the 10 institutions will meet at a multiday seminar to learn from one another and explore the idea of governance as the catalyst to propel a school toward greater mission effectiveness and economic vitality.

The initiative is funded in part by a grant from the M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust. Its goal is to help schools use new resources to enhance their governance structures and position themselves for success.
