Vancouver School of Theology (VST) has announced that it will be awarding a doctor of divinity degree, honoris causa, to David Jennings, a Vancouver, British Columbia, attorney who serves on the board of directors of the In Trust Center for Theological Schools. The honorary degree will be granted at the school of theology’s convocation ceremony on May 9.

Jennings was a board member for 17 years—including five years as chair of the board—at St. Andrew’s Hall, a Presbyterian theological college affiliated with VST. He also served for five years on the VST board of governors. A lay member of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, he has served as convener of the Assembly Council of the denomination and has been active in other committees and agencies.

With a longtime interest in Christianity and the arts, Jennings founded Incarnation Ministries, a charity that raises funds for arts and culture, and is a member of the boards of Pacific Theatre, the Humanitas Fund (which supports the visual arts), and the Centre for Religious Humanism (which publishes the journal Image). He also serves on the board of the Cardus Centre for Cultural Renewal, a think tank that conducts research on education, culture, health, and economics from a Christian perspective. Jennings was elected to the board of the In Trust Center for Theological Schools in 2012.
