The New Year 2016 issue of In Trust will focus particularly on the role of faculty in seminary governance and leadership. Seminary faculty have myriad responsibilities, both inside and outside the classroom. To prepare, they train for years as scholars, and gain valuable experience as teaching assistants before they begin their first full-time positions. Yet most new faculty members have no experience on faculty or board committees. Many have little understanding of shared governance — which responsibilities are reserved for the board and which are delegated to the faculty.

Even faculty members with long experience can find that they need a refresher on academic governance.

The New Year issue of In Trust will address these perennial issues from a variety of perspectives. Thanks to support from the Henry Luce Foundation, In Trust will mail extra copies of this issue to In Trust Center member institutions.
